Do I need an appointment or referral?

We are a walk-in clinic and no appointment is necessary to see our urgent care provider.  If your condition requires a referral to a specialist, our staff will take care of this after you are seen by the provider.

What do I need to bring to be seen at Southern Urgent Care?

You must have a current valid ID to be seen in our clinic.  If you have insurance, we must have a legible copy of your insurance card.  A current medication list will be helpful.

How long do I have to wait to be seen at Southern Urgent Care?

It is our goal to see patients within minutes of coming into our clinic.  Most simple visits can usually be seen within 30 minutes and majority of patients will be finished and out the door within an hour or less.  However, please remember that we are a walk-in facility and if we have several patients that come in within a few minutes of each other, you can expect longer wait times.  We also give precedence to more emergent complaints such as, but not limited to, chest pain, shortness of breath, severe allergic reactions and lacerations.  We work diligently to keep wait times to a minimum, but each day can be different.  Our staff will inform you if there will be a wait and keep updating you accordingly.  If you call ahead to check on the wait time, please remember that the current wait status when you call can change before you physically reach our facility.

Will Southern Urgent Care refill my regular everyday medications?

Medication refills are not routinely given, but we do understand that occasionally you need your meds refilled and cannot get a timely appointment with your primary care provider.  Refills are handled on a case-by-case basis and this is solely up to the medical provider.

Can I use Southern Urgent Care as my primary care provider?

While we are primarily an urgent care clinic and we bill as an urgent care, we do have providers that offer primary care services on an appointment basis.  You may call ahead to request a primary care appointment.  If you are out of your medications and need them urgently, you can come in and be seen as a walk-in.  If you do not have a primary care provider, our urgent care providers will refer you to follow up with our primary care provider.

Should I follow up with my primary care provider after being seen at Southern Urgent Care?

Yes.  Unless our urgent care provider specifically asks you to return to our facility for a follow up, you should get a follow up appointment with your primary care provider to make sure your condition is improving.

What if I don’t have insurance?

We offer discounted rates to all of our self-pay patients.

What types of payment are accepted?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and cash.

What insurances do we accept?

We accept most all insurances, but you must contact the clinic or bring your insurance card in to see that we are in network with your plan.  If our facility is not in network with your insurance, we offer all patients the option to be seen as a self-pay at a discounted rate.

What if my medical condition requires emergent care?

If you are at home and think you may be having a heart attack or having debilitating trouble breathing, we advise you to call 911 for an ambulance to transport you to the nearest hospital.  If you are having symptoms that could possibly indicate a life-threatening event and are coming to our clinic, please let our staff know immediately.  Emergencies take precedence over all patients in the clinic and providers will decide if your condition can be handled at our clinic or if we should send you to the hospital by ambulance.
